Dear Darcie, I have a Westie, MacDuff, and when he drinks he gets water all over the hardwood floor. Before we got MacDuff I used a product called Zep to clean the floors, but now I’m worried that it may not be safe for our little guy. Can you tell me if Zep floor cleaner is safe for dogs ? Joann

Dear Joann, It sounds pretty strong. You might call the maker to be sure it’s safe around your dog. This is what they say on their website, ” BIG ORANGE-E (liquid)
    TYPE :
Economical Natural Citrus Cleaner and Degreaser. PROD.# 0485
BENEFITS : Zep Big Orange-E is an excellent economical degreaser for cleaning and deodorizing drain pipes, grease traps, sewage treatment plants, rendering plants, refuse dumps, trash cans and dumpsters. Completely biodegradable and environmentally safe. Organic, non-petroleum cleaner, degreaser and deodorizer contains no caustics, acids, petroleum distillates, chlorinated hydrocarbons or chlorinated aromatic solvents. USDA applicable, C1. Also available in aerosol form.”

Well as requested I am here ,and not on the help desk site Darcie . After reading your bio ,you beat the heck out of me as far as experiance with dogs with my 16 years . This all started out of medical necessity for me ,when I had a mini stroke ,and I was certain I was going to die or be paralized on my right side ,if I did not do something to help my self . The help was in the form of Jasmine rip who was also going to be put down ,as she was a second chance pet ,and had been rejected twice and on the TV show “Pets on parade” Jas had strong hunting insticts ,and it got her into trouble . I was looking for a pointer ,and on her kennel card it said pointer mix ,so we brought ner home at 6 months of age , she became the Jasamaniac ,chewing and having separation anxity ,so this is why I know how to deal with my puppy Jessie ,but the difference is ,I handle it in a calm assertive manner , never raising my voice ,and staying the calm pack leader that I am with our brood bitch Shadow as female alpha in this pack . Jessie is never allowed to put herself in front of the senior members of this pack as she is the Omega puppy ,and if she tries it ,I just stay calm ,untill she learn that is the way she must be to get attention from me . I want a calm assertive dog from her ,who pays attention to me and respects me as her master ,and it is working as her bird dog training is progressing nicely ,as she has Here/come down pat 4 ways ,verbally , whistle ,beeper on the ecollar when it is too windy ,and ecollar only when I have to ,for her safety if I have to . This week it has been Whoa using the flanking cord where she trains her self to stay put on the command and make like a statue ,no matter what distractions are going on around her ,and when a bird flushes ,she is not to chase it ,so that is where we are with Jessie . She is still more goat than dog ,and it has to be her teeth that cause her to to chew ,so what I have done is to give her a frozen clean wiper cloth that has been soaked in water with a big knot in it so she will not choke on it ,and it has become one of her favorite toys to help her gums not be so sore . It worked 15 years ago with Jas and now Jessie . I have had to cut back going any where because of temps being above 110f ,so I have to get up to take my girls to the park at 4 am to train at the dog park at 5am . I bought a 3 wheel trike ,and am fabricating a steel out rigger bar to be put in back of the seat so 2 springer bike unit can be mounted to it to keep the pups away from the back wheels and we will road the kids for up to 30 minutes to get them in shape for field trials where they run for that amount of time , I have a big park across the street fom me ,so we will run them on the grass to protect their pads with me on the bike path . That will get my legs in shape and by Oct maybe I can lose 20 oe more pounds . So that is what my week will be about ,and next week our temps should drop to normal od 103/85 and not 115 /90 ,and I can stop yellin “I am melting ” Pat Katie on the head for me ! By the way I read your bio ,and guess what ? I can fly , train and ride horses and motorcyles ,and cowboy like you do ! Vio Con Dios ! John K. Legacy Kennels
