Happy New Year!

Kate and I have lazed around most of today. Some housekeeping and several rounds of breath stealing soccer in the backyard. Wishing the neighbors happy new year and feeling the air go from the 50s to the teens again. It’s winter, I don’t have a grudge against the weatherman. I love the changing of the seasons.

My friends are still trying to line me up with dates and I keep saying no thanks. I keep refusing. One of my best friends tells me, “It’s been a long time, Sweetie. You have to get back out there. Although if anyone could seem more happy, I don’t know who it would be. I think you’re more comfortable in your own skin than anyone I’ve ever known.”

I love my life no matter what turns it’s taken. There are many things that I wouldn’t trade for anything, happy times and thrilling times with people and dogs that I love, and then there were some things, some people, and some hurts I could certainly have done without but who knows, if some of the things that I wish wouldn’t have happened didn’t happen, maybe some of the really good things that did happen wouldn’t have.

Sometimes things go just the way we want them to, sometimes they don’t. The good thing is that the sun still comes up in the morning and we get to make new choices every day if we want to. I believe that it’s all good. I choose to keep right on going, keep on keeping on to see where 2012 and the rest of my life leads me. I’m in the prime of my life. There’s so much yet to do. :-)

I have no new year’s resolutions. I’ll keep trying to eat right, stay fit, and keep loving living. It’s who I am.

Kate and I wish you all the very best. Happy 2012, Everybody! – Darcie

    Hi Darcie,
they say “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”! Well, after my own ups and downs….mostly downs, I’ve come to believe that. I admire you and what you believe in so very much and always look forward to your next dish. You are a very strong, and yet sweet, lady and it’s hard to believe you have grandkids already when you look like a kid yourself and cute as a button to boot. Keep on truckin’ and a Happy New Year from the three of us – Angela, Lucky the pooch and Patches the cat :) Angela

Dear Angela, I’d be as hard as brass tacks by now if that was really true! The one thing that I do know from all the stuff that’s happened to me in my life is, nothing in this world can hurt me enough to keep me from keeping on. So I keep keeping on. I’m not hard or hateful or mean although every once in a while I think it might feel good to be mean to someone who’s hurt me…I pray it away and away it goes. Humans. We’re all just humans with human foibles. I’ve somehow been able to bend and not break. Nothing gets me down for more than a few minutes at a time. I’d rather live life laughing at the troubles than have to sit and worry and fret over things that I don’t have any power over. I give all the glory to God on that. I’m just like everybody else, I can’t do it alone and I wouldn’t want to try. Too much stuff! I can’t wait to see what 2012 brings. LOL! Have a wonderful new year! – Darcie

Good to hear from you again. PLEASE post more often.
Update on my Dixie. She passed her AKC K9 Good Citizen Award and is really doing well. Even though she stays with me 24/7, she still needs a play mate. I am having a real problem finding a suitable rescue. Any magic cure? Guy

Dear Guy, Things are settling down in my busy life again and I’m finding my new routine, I’ll try to post more often. I miss you guys too!

Talk to people in your neighborhood and try to find a dog compatible with yours for play dates. Same energy level and happy level are good. I don’t like to say temperament because that can mean so many things. Simply, just like a human child, find a dog friend or two or three that your dog will like to play with a few times a week. Doggie day cares who let you watch via Internet during the day are good too. – Darcie

Guy you do not say what breed DIXIE is? Sometimes if you are looking for a”suitable Rescue” a dog of the same breed or like my two girls, Cheyenne the Siber-Mal (half Siberian Husky & Alaskan Malamute and Starr the Malamute closley related breeds get along just fine with each other. Just a thought from me.

Dear Darcie, missed sending everyone there at SitStay Howl-A-Day greetings as my better half has been in and out of the hospital. Almost lost her but thanks to the Spirit-in-the-Sky (Great Spirt) and our Families three Guardian Angels (Lady, Tramp and King who have gone on to the “Bridge”) she is doing much better and is at home recovering nicely. The minute the ambulance departed from our home I said a prayer to Him asking for Him to send forth Tramp (he was her favorite) to go with her to protect her, guard her and fight for her life. On my way to the hospital I again called upon Him to send forth Lady to stand at Tramps side to help him. When I arrived at the hospital and walked into the Emergency Center treatment room I knew He had answered my prayers for I could feel Lady and Tramps presence there in that room that night. After speaking with the doctors and finding out just how critial her condition was I prayed once again and asked him to send forth King (my Guardian Angel). Within a few moment I could feel his presence there in the room as well. No matter which name you choose to call “Him” He is always there to listen and respond to our needs. All praise and honor to the Spirit-in-the-Sky for answering my prayers!
