Frankie was on top of the house

“Frankie, get off of the roof.”

The new pups, Frankie and Oliver, are doing great in the house and outside so they minutes of time here and there without complete supervision. I let them outside to play with DC, the cat. She loves the chase and the wrestle.

I walked back into the kitchen to get my coffee to take it outdoors where I could watch them all play and I heard noise I hadn’t heard in this house before. We live in an underground house with just a tiny bit of roof over the traditional turret out front. The sound I heard was of someone walking on the roof. What? Who could that be? Waaaait a minute! I went back out.

The cat was laying stretched out, relaxed and happy right at the front corner of the roof. Frankie was sitting beside her, looking from the cat to the lake. They both seemed perfectly content. We have a great view from up there.

Oliver, who was about ten feet away from them, had his front legs on the wall above the roof, like a guy leaning on a wall with his elbows. I could just hear him saying to Frankie, “Hey, Frankie, get the cat and bring her back over here. I don’t think this roof would hold me. I’m a pretty big guy. Not as brave as you. You know?”

“Frankie, get off of the roof.” I said. I remained calm and waved my arm, gesturing one time the way she should go. Frankie immediately turned and trotted off of the roof and back onto safe earth. She ran down the stepped wall and ran into my arms.

We’ll be putting up a fence to fence off the roof.
